TueSPAE 2 was another jam-packed,
We were joined by Lindsey Vachon a rising Junior at Leland and Gray who was a student at this year’s Governor’s Institute on the Arts. She introduced our campers to Experimental Storytelling bringing concepts she learned in one of her classes at GIA and adjusting them to better fit our SPAE age-range.
Campers were given a prompt ie: A time when you were embarrassed. They then wrote about a time in their lives the prompt reminded them of. They shared their writing and picked two or three stories to combine. They then had to decide how to represent these stories through movement and sound. The first group included dialogue between distinct characters, the second ground had non-verbal sounds and movement to tell their story. Both groups created AWESOME pieces, THANK YOU LINDSEY!!
In other SPAE news, Rachael and Nathaniel have been choreographing some amazing Demon movements:
I’m so excited to see this movement piece! The demons take control of Milo, Millie, Tock, and Gnome and use them like Marionettes. SO COOL!!
Ellie and Veronica have been working hard on the song Princess Rhyme and Princess Reason sing. Nathaniel did a great job blocking this with the ladies. Chances are pretty good that you’ll recognize this song, with a “Phantom Tollbooth” twist.
